Just kickin' it

Our little baby boy loves to move. He kicks, rolls, and runs his little feet or hands along my stomach all day (and night). I am so grateful for this because it lets me know that he's in there and okay. I go in for my 7 month check up and glucose test next week. Thankfully all the Christmas cookies are gone and not tempting me anymore.
We started cleaning out the office to make it into the baby's room. This has been a bigger project than I originally anticipated. I had hoped to have it finished in a few days but I was sick with a cold and tried to rest so that it didn't turn into something more. Thankfully I think I am almost over it. So this week we should be finishing up cleaning everything out and moving on to the painting. I will post pictures once we finish.
As of now our little one still doesn't have a name but we have some time to think about it. We have a list but neither one of us can agree on one.

24 weeks and all is well

I had my 6 month check up yesterday and the doctor said the baby is doing great. I however need to slow down on the weight gain. Apparently my cheesy crunch gorditas have paid off and I gained a little too much these past four weeks. My doctor is very sweet though and said it was okay but I shouldn't do this every month.

It's hard to know how much I gain between visits because we don't own a scale. Since all my maternity clothes have elastic or adjustable waist bands those are not a good indicator of how my weight is doing either. So I guess gone are days that I would indulge in a piece of chocolate cake or eat whatever sounds good because I am after all pregnant. I guess that's not a good enough excuse anymore. Veggies and fruit here I come!

Here's my 6 month belly picture.

Oh Boy!

So today I got quite a shock when we went in for our sonogram. I was fully expecting for her to tell us how great our baby girl looked. Instead she asked if we wanted to know the sex of the baby and of course we said yes. She took a minute to find what she needed to let us know what we were having. I thought I saw something but figured it was just the umbilical cord.
Then the words "It's A Boy!" popped up on the screen. I was totally surprised! I almost couldn't believe what I was reading. Then I started to cry and looked at Aaron who had a huge smile on his face. I asked her how sure she was and her response was "It's definitely there. If I can't see anything else I am sure about seeing that."
Thankfully all the baby's organs and development looked great. We feel so incredibly blessed by God and are so grateful for both of our children. So it looks like Sarah will stay our only little princess but get to share her parents with a little prince.

My guess is....

Tomorrow I go for my 5 month check-up and sonogram to find out the sex of the baby. As you can see from the new background I have made my guess on what the baby will be. My strong feeling is that the baby is a girl. I've had many people make a guess and the majority think it will be a boy. Aaron is convinced it's a girl and he was right the first time when I was pregnant with Sarah. Hopefully the baby will cooperate and I will post the results tomorrow. However, I don't anticipate having to change my background:)

Although all this speculation is fun and exciting, my overall prayer is that the baby is healthy. It will be nice to see the baby and have the doctor check to make sure that things are developing correctly.

16 Weeks

I had been feeling pretty good about my belly until I saw this picture. Until now I could look at the pictures of my belly and it would make be feel better because it looked small. In this picture I saw that there had been obvious growth since last the last picture. I'm trying to keep a good attitude about it and know that the baby is just growing. The doctor keeps reassuring me that since this is my second pregnancy that my belly will get bigger faster. I will just be happy to see the baby on the sonogram and know that everything is on track. Here's the belly pic for week 16.

Powerful little legs

Today I felt the baby really kick for the first time. For the past few weeks I've been feeling little flutters and wasn't sure if I was really feeling the baby kick. There was no doubt about what I felt today. It was definitely strong. I am hoping that Aaron will get the chance soon to feel it.
With Sarah I was almost 20 weeks before I felt anything and it was not as strong as this little one. So I was surprised that at 16 weeks I'm able to feel my little ones powerful little legs.

Unexpected question

I've shared before the funny things that kids have asked since they found out about my pregnancy. So far the questions have been funny and nothing serious, that is until today.
I walk into a 3rd grade class today to teach a guidance lesson. I sit down and am bombarded with kids asking if I really am pregnant and when is the baby coming. So far so good.

Then one of the kids asks a question but I can't hear him. I ask what he said and he said nothing. Then the boy next to him says "He said, How did you make that baby?" Well, needless to say I had no idea that was coming. So all I could think of to answer him back with was "Why don't you ask your parents when you get home." I quickly changed the subject and hoped that no one else had any questions me or the baby.

What a glorious sound....

Today I went for my 4 month check-up. Although it was short and uneventful, which is just the way I like it, I was able to leave with a feeling of peace. When I heard the baby's heartbeat it was like a wave of relief rushed over me. Since I am still in the early stages there is really nothing telling me how the baby is doing. I'm hoping soon I will feel a little kick. I know some pregnant women find it annoying but I love it.
When I was pregnant with Sarah it was my daily, hourly, minute by minute assurance that she was in there and okay. For now, I wait until I feel that little nudge in my belly that will let me know that he or she is okay.
In about a month we get to go back for a sonogram to see if we are having a boy or girl. I am so anxious to know and see how we will get to decorate the nursery.

14 weeks and growing

I am only 3 1/2 months along and my belly already feels really big. Then I look at the pictures and it looks alot smaller that it does when I look at it in the mirror. Supposedly this is normal since I have already had a baby I'm supposed to get bigger faster. I go to the doctor next week and am anxious to see how everything measures and how much weight I've gained.

Cravings!

So far I have been pretty good about not giving in to too many of my cravings. Today I just had to do it. I have been wanting a Mexican pizza from Taco Bell. When I get there I find out they are still making my most favorite Cheesy Crunch Gordita. So instead of just getting one I get both the pizza and gordita. Then I proceeded to eat both. As of right now the baby is pretty happy with what I had for dinner. I will let you know tomorrow if things stayed that way.

Belly Pics

Okay, so when I was pregnant with Sarah I refused to have my belly photographed. In fact I think the only pictures of my belly are ones that were taken at my showers. That was a very different pregnancy because there was so much I didn't know. To be blatanly honest I had an overwhelming fear of gaining weight that would not come off after she was born. Thankfully though it did come off:)

So now I am kicking myself for not taking pictures because I don't have anything to compare my belly to now. This time I am taking pictures. So far I only have two pics. I am hoping to take new ones every few weeks. Even though I have no pictures to make a comparison to, I do know that I am much bigger at this stage than I was with Sarah. Of course, I keep hearing that is pretty common.
